I said, "Messenger of Allah, there is a land near us called the land of Abyan. It is the land of our provisions and supplies, but it is plagued with disease," or he said, "there is a severe epidemic in it."The Messenger of Allah ﷺ replied, "Leave it alone, for close contact with disease leads to destruction."
حدثنا عبد الرزاق قال أخبرنا معمر عن يحيى بن عبد الله بن بحير قال أخبرني من سمع
قلت يا رسول الله إن أرضا عندنا يقال لها أرض أبين هي أرض رفقتنا وميرتنا وإنها وبئة أو قال إن بها وباء شديدا فقال رسول الله ﷺ دعها عنك فإن من القرف التلف
Its isnad is daif due to the anonymity of the narrator from Farwa. The hadith was narrated by Abu Dawud 4/19, no. 3923, in the Book of Medicine, chapter on tiyarah, and Abdul-Razzaq 11/148, no. 20162, chapter on plague and pestilence, and Bukhari in Tarikh al-Kabir 8/286, no. 3024, and Bayhaqi 9/347.His statement "indeed qarf is destruction" means that whoever draws near a plague, it destroys him.
