Amir bin Rabia and Sahl bin Hunayf set out intending to bathe. They went looking for a secluded spot. Amir took off a woolen cloak he had been wearing, and as I looked at him, I struck him with my eye. He went down into the water to bathe, and I heard a gurgling sound from him in the water. I came to him and called out to him three times, but he did not answer me. So I went to the Prophet ﷺ and informed him.He came walking, and waded into the water. It is as if I can still see the whiteness of his shins. He struck Amir's chest with his hand and said, "Allah, take away from him its heat, its cold, and its sickness."Amir then stood up. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "When one of you sees something he admires in his brother, in himself, or in his property, let him invoke blessing upon it, for the evil eye is real."
