Aswad bin Sari reported,

I came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said, "Messenger of Allah, I have praised my Lord with verses of praise and commendation, and I have praised you as well."The Messenger of Allah ﷺ replied, "Indeed, your Lord loves praise. Recite for me what you have praised your Lord with."So I began to recite to him, when a man came seeking permission to enter. He was tall, bald in front, and ambidextrous. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ gestured to me to be silent for him. Abu Salama described to us how he signaled for silence, saying it was the way one shoos away a cat.The man entered, spoke for a while, then left. I resumed my recitation. Then the man returned again, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ again signaled me to be silent, in the same manner described.I asked, "Messenger of Allah, who is this man for whom you silenced me?"He said, "This is a man who does not love falsehood. This is Umar bin Khattab."

حدثنا حسن بن موسى حدثنا حماد بن سلمة عن علي بن زيد عن عبد الرحمن بن أبي بكرة أن

الأسود بن سريع قال

أتيت رسول الله ﷺ فقلت يا رسول الله إني قد حمدت ربي تبارك وتعالى بمحامد ومدح وإياك فقال رسول الله ﷺ أما إن ربك تبارك وتعالى يحب المدح هات ما امتدحت به ربك قال فجعلت أنشده فجاء رجل فاستأذن أدلم أصلع أعسر أيسر قال فاستنصتني له رسول الله ﷺ ووصف لنا أبو سلمة كيف استنصته قال كما صنع بالهر فدخل الرجل فتكلم ساعة ثم خرج ثم أخذت أنشده أيضا ثم رجع بعد فاستنصتني رسول الله ﷺ ووصفه أيضا فقلت يا رسول الله من ذا الذي استنصتني له فقال هذا رجل لا يحب الباطل هذا عمر بن الخطاب
