Its chain of transmission is sahih. Amr bin Nubayh, with the vowel pattern of tasgheer, al-Kabi al-Khuzai, is trustworthy, Ibn Madini and others affirmed his reliability. Abu Abdullah al-Qaraz, whose name is Dinar, is a follower of the companions (tabii), mentioned by Ibn Hibban in al-Thiqat, and Bukhari gave him a biographical entry in al-Kabir 2/1/223 without mentioning any criticism of him."Badahum," with a fatha on the dal and a sakin on the ha, means "a great calamity befalls them," from the verb "yadhamuhum," meaning "surprises them" or "overtakes them suddenly."This hadith was narrated by Muslim, 1:390, through the route of Hatim bin Ismail and Ismail bin Jafar, from Amr bin Nubayh. It will also come later at 1593 and 8355, through the route of Usama bin Zayd, from Abu Abdullah al-Qaraz, from Abu Hurairah and Saad, in a longer version. Al-Qaraz explicitly stated here, and in the places we referred to, that he heard directly from Saad and heard directly from Abu Hurairah.Abu Hatim Razi said, "He narrated from Saad bin Abu Waqqas, but we do not know whether he actually heard from him or not." This explicit statement of direct hearing establishes what was unclear to Abu Hatim.Al-Hafiz pointed out in al-Tahdhib, 7:501, that this hadith was also narrated by Nasai.
