There was a man from the Muhajirun named Abdul-Rahman bin Safwan who had rendered excellent service to Islam and was a friend of Abbas. On the day of the conquest of Mecca, he brought his father to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said, "Messenger of Allah, take his pledge on emigration."But the Messenger of Allah ﷺ refused, saying, "There is no emigration."So he went to Abbas, who was at the watering place, and said, "Abu Fadl, I came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ with my father so that he might take his pledge on emigration, but he refused."Abbas got up and went with him, without even a cloak on, and said, "Messenger of Allah, you know the relationship between me and so-and-so. He brought you his father so that you might take his pledge on emigration, but you refused."The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "There is no emigration."Abbas said, "I adjure you, you must take his pledge."So the Messenger of Allah ﷺ extended his hand and said, "Come, I have honored my uncle's oath, but there is no emigration."
