He heard the Prophet ﷺ say, "A servant does not attain the true reality of faith until he loves for the sake of Allah and hates for the sake of Allah. When he loves for the sake of Allah and hates for the sake of Allah
, he becomes deserving of friendship with Allah. Indeed, My friends among My servants and My beloved ones among My creation are those who are remembered when I am remembered, and I am remembered when they are remembered."
Its chain of transmission is daif for two reasons. First, because of the weakness of Rushdin bin Saad. Second, because of the disconnection between Abu Mansur and Amr bin Jamuh, for Bukhari said, "He did not hear from him, though he is trustworthy." Haythami likewise weakened it in 1/58, and in 89 he said, "It is disconnected."It is corroborated by the hadith, "Whoever loves for Allah's sake, hates for Allah's sake, gives for Allah's sake, and withholds for Allah's sake has perfected his faith." This was narrated by Abu Dawud (4/220, no. 4681) and Tirmidhi (4/670, no. 2521), who graded it hasan, and Hakim graded it sahih (2/164), a judgment with which Dhahabi agreed.
