I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, "Recite the Quran. Do not go to extremes in it, do not turn away from it, do not seek to eat by means of it, and do not seek to gain wealth through it."
Its chain is sahih. It occurs in T as "Yahya bin Abu Numayr," which is an error, the correct form being "Yahya bin Abu Kathir." Abu Rashid al-Hubrani al-Himsi is trustworthy, and the hadith is sahih. Haythami graded it sahih in 7/167 and 4/95, by way of Ahmad and Abu Yaala. It appears in his Musnad, 3/88, number 1518, by way of Zayd bin Salam, from Abu Salam, from Abdul-Rahman bin Shibl. Tahawi has something similar in Maani al-Athar, 3/18. Ibn Abu Shayba also narrated it, 2/400, in the chapter on prayer, "the man who leads the people in Ramadan." Hakim narrated it, 4/604, and Dhahabi agreed with him. Ibn Hajar mentioned it in Fath al-Bari, 9/101, and endorsed it as strong.15468m - The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "The merchants are indeed the sinners." It was said, "O Messenger of Allah, has Allah not made trade lawful?" He said, "Yes, but they speak and lie, and they swear and thereby fall into sin."He also said, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "The wicked are indeed the people of the Fire." It was said, "O Messenger of Allah, who are the wicked?" He said, "The women." A man said, "O Messenger of Allah, are they not our mothers, our sisters, and our wives?" He said, "Yes, but when they are given something, they do not show gratitude, and when they are tested, they do not show patience."Sahih (15468m). Its chain is sahih, like the one before it. It is found in Abdul-Razzaq, 1944, and in Tabarani's Al-Kabir, 19/315, and in Hakim, 2/6, with Dhahabi agreeing with him, and in Bayhaqi, 5/266. Haythami also graded it sahih.
