Sudden death is a seizure of regret. He once related this from the Prophet ﷺ.
حدثنا يحيى بن سعيد عن شعبة قال حدثني منصور عن تميم بن سلمة
موت الفجأة أخذة أسف وحدث به مرة عن النبي ﷺ
Its isnad is sahih. Its narrators are all leading authorities, and Tamim bin Salama Sulami Kufi is trustworthy by consensus, being among the trustworthy successors. The hadith was narrated by Abu Dawud 3/188, no. 3110, in the book of Funerals, chapter on sudden death, and by Tirmidhi through another route, 3/300, no. 980, with the same wording, though he graded it daif, and by Bayhaqi 3/378, with the same wording.
