I was one of seven men with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. He instructed each of us to contribute a dirham, so we pooled our money and bought a sacrificial animal for seven dirhams. We said, "Messenger of Allah, we have paid a high price for it."The Messenger of Allah ﷺ replied, "The best of sacrifices are the most expensive and the fattest."Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ gave instructions, and one man took hold of a leg, another took hold of another leg, one took a foreleg, another took the other foreleg, one took a horn, another took the other horn, while the seventh slaughtered it, and all of us together pronounced the takbir over it.

Its chain of transmission is daif, and there is something questionable about it. Uthman bin Zafar Juhani was deemed trustworthy by Hakim and Dhahabi, but a group of scholars considered him unknown. There is another issue as well, for Hakim alone is the one who said "Abu Aswad Sulami," who is a companion, but Uthman bin Zafar Juhani does not narrate from the companions.Haythami said in 4/21, "I did not find anyone who criticized Abu Aswad, nor anyone who deemed him trustworthy." He also mentioned him in Tajil, page 305, number 1224, without saying anything about him there.I only graded it daif because it contradicts the well-known hadiths and the practice of the jurists, since the seven share in a cow or a camel, not in a sheep. But perhaps this is a concession, and perhaps these seven have no dependents, since a sheep suffices for a man and his family. Allah knows best.
