I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ prostrate during the recitation of Surah an-Najm, and the people prostrated along with him. Muttalib said, "I did not prostrate with them," for he was a polytheist at that time.Muttalib then said, "I will never abandon the prostration in this surah from now on."
حدثنا عبد الرزاق أخبرنا معمر عن ابن طاوس عن عكرمة بن خالد
رأيت رسول الله ﷺ سجد في النجم وسجد الناس معه قال المطلب ولم أسجد معهم وهو يومئذ مشرك فقال المطلب فلا أدع السجود فيها أبدا
