The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said on the day of the Conquest, "No man of Quraysh should be put to death in captivity after this day."
حدثنا معاوية بن هشام أبو الحسن قال حدثنا شيبان عن فراس عن الشعبي قال قال
رسول الله ﷺ يوم الفتح لا ينبغي أن يقتل قرشي بعد يومه هذا صبرا
Its chain of transmission is sahih. Hisham bin Muawiya, Shayban bin Abdul-Rahman, and Firas bin Yahya are all reliable narrators.Muslim narrated this hadith in 3/1409, number 1782, in the chapter on jihad, under the heading "No Qurashi is to be killed in captivity."Darimi narrated the same in 2/260, number 2386, in the chapter on blood money.Humaydi narrated it as number 568, and Ibn Abu Asim narrated it in 2/638, number 1526.
