The Messenger of Allah ﷺ borrowed some coats of armor from him on the day of Khaybar.He asked, "Is this a forced seizure, Muhammad?"The Messenger of Allah ﷺ replied, "No, it is a loan with a guarantee of replacement."Some of the armor was lost, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ offered to compensate him for it.He said, "Messenger of Allah, today I am more eager than ever for Islam."
حدثنا يزيد بن هارون قال أخبرنا شريك عن عبد العزيز بن رفيع
أن رسول الله ﷺ استعار منه يوم خيبر أدراعا فقال أغصبا يا محمد فقال بل عارية مضمونة قال فضاع بعضها فعرض عليه رسول الله ﷺ أن يضمنها له فقال أنا اليوم يا رسول الله في الإسلام أرغب
Its isnad is hasan due to Sharik. The hadith was narrated by Abu Dawud, 3/296, no. 3562, in the chapter on business transactions, on the liability of borrowed items, and by Hakim, 2/47 and 3/49, and Dhahabi agreed with him, and by Bayhaqi, 6/89.
