The Messenger of Allah ﷺ sprained his foot, so we went to visit him. He came out to us, or we found him sitting in his room in front of an upper chamber. He prayed sitting down, and we stood behind him and prayed. When he finished the prayer, he said, "When I pray sitting, you should pray sitting, and when I pray standing, you should pray standing. Do not stand the way the Persians stand for their tyrants," or "for their kings."
حدثنا أبو جعفر محمد بن جعفر المدائني أخبرنا ورقاء عن منصور عن سالم بن أبي الجعد
وثيت رجل رسول الله ﷺ فدخلنا عليه فخرج إلينا أو وجدناه في حجرته جالسا بين يدي غرفة فصلى جالسا وقمنا خلفه فصلينا فلما قضى الصلاة قال إذا صليت جالسا فصلوا جلوسا وإذا صليت قائما فصلوا قياما ولا تقوموا كما تقوم فارس لجبابرتها أو لملوكها
