I asked Abu Salama bin Abdul-Rahman which part of the Quran was revealed first.He answered, "O you who are wrapped up" [Muddaththir 74:1].I said, "I have been told that the first surah revealed was 'Recite in the name of your Lord who created' [Alaq 96:1]."Jabir replied, "I will only tell you what the Messenger of Allah ﷺ told us. He said, 'I was secluded in Hira, and when my seclusion ended, I came down and made my way through the valley. Then I was called. I looked in front of me, behind me, to my right, and to my left, but I saw nothing. Then I was called again. I looked in front of me, behind me, to my right, and to my left, but I saw nothing. Then I looked above me, and there he was, seated on a throne between the heavens and the earth. I was terrified by him, so I went to Khadijah's house and said, Wrap me up, wrap me up, and pour cold water over me. Then it was revealed to me, "O you who are wrapped up, arise and warn, and magnify your Lord" [Muddaththir 74:1–3].'"

سألت أبا سلمة بن عبد الرحمن أي القرآن نزل أول قال يا أيها المدثر قال فإني أنبئت أن أول سورة نزلت اقرأ باسم ربك الذي خلق قال جابر لا أحدثك إلا كما حدثنا رسول الله ﷺ قال جاورت في حراء فلما قضيت جواري نزلت فاستبطنت الوادي فنوديت فنظرت بين يدي وخلفي وعن يميني وعن شمالي فلم أر شيئا فنوديت أيضا فنظرت بين يدي وخلفي وعن يميني وعن شمالي فلم أر شيئا فنظرت فوقي فإذا أنا به قاعد على عرش بين السماء والأرض فجئثت منه فأتيت منزل خديجة فقلت دثروني وصبوا علي ماء باردا قال فنزلت علي {يا أيها المدثر قم فأنذر وربك فكبر}
