Jabir bin Abdullah reported,

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ fought against Muharib bin Khasafah. A man from among them named Ghawrath bin Harith came until he stood over the Messenger of Allah ﷺ with his sword and said, "Who will protect you from me?"He replied, "Allah ."The sword then fell from his hand, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ picked it up and said, "Who will protect you from me?"The man said, "Be the best one to take hold."The Messenger of Allah ﷺ asked, "Will you bear witness that there is no god but Allah and that I am the Messenger of Allah?"He said, "No, but I pledge to you that I will not fight you, nor will I be with a people who fight you."So he let him go, and the man returned to his people and said, "I have come to you from the best of people."When the time for prayer came, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ performed the prayer of fear. The people were in two groups, one group facing the enemy, and another group praying with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. He led the group with him in two units of prayer, and they departed and took the place of those facing the enemy. Then those who had been facing the enemy came forward and prayed two units with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. So the Messenger of Allah ﷺ performed four units of prayer, while each group performed two units.

حدثنا سريج حدثنا أبو عوانة عن أبي بشر عن سليمان بن قيس

عن جابر بن عبد الله قال

قاتل رسول الله ﷺ محارب بن خصفة فجاء رجل منهم يقال له غورث بن الحارث حتى قام على رسول الله ﷺ بالسيف فقال من يمنعك مني قال الله عز وجل فسقط السيف من يده فأخذه رسول الله ﷺ فقال من يمنعك مني قال كن كخير آخذ قال أتشهد أن لا إله إلا الله وأني رسول الله قال لا ولكن أعاهدك على أن لا أقاتلك ولا أكون مع قوم يقاتلونك فخلى سبيله فأتى قومه فقال جئتكم من عند خير الناس فلما حضرت الصلاة صلى رسول الله ﷺ صلاة الخوف فكان الناس طائفتين طائفة بإزاء العدو وطائفة صلوا مع رسول الله ﷺ فصلى بالطائفة الذين معه ركعتين وانصرفوا فكانوا بمكان أولئك الذين بإزاء عدوهم وانصرف الذين بإزاء عدوهم فصلوا مع رسول الله ﷺ ركعتين فكان لرسول الله ﷺ أربع ركعات وللقوم ركعتين ركعتين
