I had a need to put before Abu Saad. He said, and Abu Hayan also narrated to us from Majma, who said,Umar bin Saad had a need to ask of his father, so he prefaced his request with eloquent speech of the kind people use to ingratiate themselves, the like of which his father had never heard from him. When he finished, his father said, "My son, have you finished your speech?"He answered, "Yes."His father said, "I have never been further from granting your need, nor more disinclined toward you, than I have been since I heard this speech of yours. I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, 'There will come a people who eat with their tongues just as a cow eats from the ground.'"
حدثنا يعلى ويحيى بن سعيد قال يحيى حدثني رجل كنت أسميه فنسيت اسمه
كانت لي حاجة إلى أبي سعد قال وحدثنا أبو حيان عن مجمع قال كان لعمر بن سعد إلى أبيه حاجة فقدم بين يدي حاجته كلاما مما يحدث الناس يوصلون لم يكن يسمعه فلما فرغ قال يا بني قد فرغت من كلامك قال نعم قال ما كنت من حاجتك أبعد ولا كنت فيك أزهد مني منذ سمعت كلامك هذا سمعت رسول الله ﷺ يقول سيكون قوم يأكلون بألسنتهم كما تأكل البقرة من الأرض

Both of its chains are daif. The first because of the anonymity of the man whose name Yahya forgot, and the second because it is disconnected, since Mujammi bin Yahya bin Yazid bin Jariyah did not witness the incident, unless he heard it from Umar bin Saad. The hadith is found in Majma al-Zawaid 8:116, where it is also attributed to Bazzar, who found fault with it because of the unnamed narrator. Something of similar meaning will come later with another chain, 1597.
