The sun was eclipsed during the time of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ on an intensely hot day. He led his companions in prayer, prolonging the standing until they began to collapse. Then he bowed and prolonged it, then he rose and prolonged it, then he bowed and prolonged it, then he rose and prolonged it, then he performed two prostrations. Then he stood and did the same again. Thus the prayer consisted of four bowings and four prostrations.
