The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Whoever spends a day in the state of ihram calling out the talbiyah until the sun sets, his sins set along with it, and he becomes as free of them as the day his mother bore him."

Its chain of transmission is daif because of Asim bin Ubaydullah, but the hadith is supported by what Muslim narrated with a different wording, "Whoever comes to this House and does not commit sin or indecency returns as his mother bore him." Sahih Muslim 2/983, number 1350 and its variants. Despite this, Suyuti graded it hasan with this wording in Jami Saghir 6/69, number 8461 (Fayd), attributing it to Ahmad and Ibn Majah. It is found in Ibn Majah 2/976, number 2925, and likewise in Bayhaqi 5/43, and in Abu Naeem's Hilyah 9/229. However, Busiri declared it daif in Zawaid, and likewise Ibn Adi in Kamil 5/231.Suyuti is not to be blamed for grading it hasan, since he was looking at its supporting evidence, while what is before us is a chain of transmission, and our discussion concerns the chain itself. As for the text, it rises to the level of hasan without dispute.
