Saad said, "I remember myself with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ as one of seven men, and we had no food but the leaves of the hubla tree, until one of us would relieve himself as a sheep does, with nothing mixed in it. Then the tribe of Banu Asad took to disciplining me over Islam. If that is so, I have surely lost, and all my striving has gone to waste."

قال سعد لقد رأيتني مع رسول الله ﷺ سابع سبعة وما لنا طعام إلا ورق الحبلة حتى إن أحدنا ليضع كما تضع الشاة ما يخالطه شيء ثم أصبحت بنو أسد يعزروني على الإسلام لقد خسرت إذن وضل سعيي
Its isnad is sahih. Ismail is Ibn Abu Khalid, a trustworthy tabii, an authority, and one of the great memorizers among the people. Muslim narrated the hadith, 2:387-388. Bukhari, Tirmidhi, and Ibn Majah also narrated it, as noted in Dhakhair al-Mawarith, 2082.Al-hiblah, with a damma on the ha and a saakin ba, is the fruit of the samur tree, resembling the lubiya (cowpea). Al-samur, with a fatha on the sin and a damma on the mim, is a type of talh tree."Yuazziruni" comes from taazir, which means restraint and rebuff. From this comes the term used for disciplinary correction that falls short of a legally prescribed punishment, called tazir. What is meant here is that they would restrain him regarding Islam, or reprimand him for falling short in it.
