A man from the Ansar had a baby boy and wanted to name him Muhammad, but it seemed his family disapproved. So he carried the child on his shoulder and brought him to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Name yourselves with my name, but do not take my kunya."
حدثنا محمد بن جعفر حدثنا شعبة عن منصور عن سالم بن أبي الجعد
أن رجلا من الأنصار ولد له غلام فأراد أن يسميه محمدا فكأنهم كرهوه فحمله على عاتقه فأتى به رسول الله ﷺ فقال رسول الله ﷺ تسموا باسمي ولا تكنوا بكنيتي
