Muaz used to pray with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and then return to lead his people in prayer. One time he led them in the evening prayer and recited Surah al-Baqarah. A man broke away from the prayer and left, and Muaz spoke critically of him. Word of this reached the Prophet ﷺ, who said, "A troublemaker, a troublemaker," or he said, "One who drives people away, one who drives people away, one who drives people away." He then instructed him to recite two surahs from the middle of the Mufassal section.Amr said, "I do not remember which two they were."
