The Prophet ﷺ sent him on some errand. He returned to find the Prophet ﷺ praying on his mount. He greeted him with salam, but the Prophet remained silent. He greeted him again, and again the Prophet remained silent. He greeted him a third time, and still the Prophet remained silent.When the Prophet ﷺ finished, he said to him, "Nothing prevented me from returning your greeting except that I was praying."He prayed in whatever direction his mount turned.

أن النبي ﷺ بعثه لبعض حاجته قال فجاء والنبي ﷺ يصلي على راحلته قال فسلم عليه فسكت فسلم عليه فسكت فسلم عليه فسكت ثلاث مرات قال فقال له لما فرغ إنه لم يمنعني أن أرد عليك إلا أني كنت أصلي قال فصلى حيث توجهت به راحلته
