The Messenger of Allah ﷺ passed by Jabir during the expedition of Tabuk while my camel had grown weary.He asked, "What is the matter with you, Jabir?"I replied, "My camel has become exhausted."So he came up to it from behind, and Affan said the camel's hindquarters were level with its body, then he supplicated and urged it on. From then on, the camel kept moving ahead of the other camels.He came up to me and asked, "What did the camel do?"I said, "It has been outpacing them ever since."He asked, "For how much did you buy it?"I said, "For thirteen dinars."He said, "Sell it to me for that price, and you may keep riding it back to Madinah."I said, "Yes."When I arrived in Madinah, I put a halter on it and brought it to the Prophet ﷺ. He gave me the price and gave me the camel as well.
حدثنا عفان حدثنا حماد بن سلمة أخبرنا علي بن زيد عن أبي المتوكل
أن رسول الله ﷺ مر بجابر في غزوة تبوك قال وقد أعيا بعيري فقال ما شأنك يا جابر فقلت بعيري قد رزم قال فأتاه من قبل عجزه وقال عفان وعجزه سواء فدعا وزجره قال فلم يزل يقدم الإبل قال فأتى عليه فقال ما فعل البعير قلت ما زال يقدمها قال بكم أخذته فقلت بثلاثة عشر دينارا قال فبعني بالثمن ولك ظهره إلى المدينة قلت نعم قال فلما قدمت المدينة خطمته ثم أتيت به النبي ﷺ فأعطاني الثمن وأعطاني البعير
