Some men had surplus lands which they used to lease out for a third, a quarter, or half of the produce. The Prophet ﷺ said, "Whoever has land should cultivate it himself or give it to his brother to cultivate. If he refuses, let him keep his land."
حدثنا أبو المغيرة ومحمد بن مصعب قالا حدثنا الأوزاعي حدثني عطاء وقال ابن مصعب عن عطاء بن أبي رباح
كانت لرجال فضول أرضين فكانوا يؤاجرونها على الثلث والربع والنصف فقال النبي ﷺ من كانت له أرض فليزرعها أو ليمنحها أخاه فإن أبى فليمسك أرضه
