I was with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ during the year of Jiranah while he was distributing silver to the people from a cloth held by Bilal. A man said, "Messenger of Allah, be just."The Prophet ﷺ replied, "Woe to you. Who will be just if I am not just? I would surely be ruined if I were not just."Umar said, "Messenger of Allah, let me kill this hypocrite."The Prophet ﷺ said, "Allah forbid that people should say I kill my companions. This man and his companions recite the Quran, but it does not pass beyond their throats. They will pass out of the religion as an arrow passes through its target."
حدثنا حسن بن موسى أخبرنا أبو شهاب عن يحيى بن سعيد عن أبي الزبير
كنت مع رسول الله ﷺ عام الجعرانة وهو يقسم فضة في ثوب بلال للناس فقال رجل يا رسول الله اعدل فقال ويلك ومن يعدل إذا لم أعدل لقد خبت إن لم أكن أعدل فقال عمر يا رسول الله دعني أقتل هذا المنافق فقال معاذ الله أن يتحدث الناس أني أقتل أصحابي إن هذا وأصحابه يقرءون القرآن لا يجاوز حناجرهم أو تراقيهم يمرقون من الدين مروق السهم من الرمية
