While we were with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ standing in our rows during the noon or afternoon prayer, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ suddenly reached out for something, then he stepped back, and the people stepped back with him.When he had finished the prayer, Ubayy bin Kaab said to him, "You did something in this prayer that you have not done before."He replied, "Paradise was shown to me with all its splendor and beauty in it, so I reached out to take a cluster of grapes from it to bring to you. But it was kept from me, and had I brought it to you, everyone between the heavens and the earth would have eaten from it without diminishing it in the least."Then the Fire was shown to me, and when I felt the scorching heat of it I stepped back from it. Most of those I saw in it were women who, when entrusted with something, betray the trust, when asked for something, refuse to give, and when they ask for something, they press insistently."Husayn added, "And when given something, they show no gratitude.""And I saw in it Luhayy bin Amr dragging his entrails in the Fire, and the one I saw most resembling him was Mabad bin Aktham al-Kaabi."Mabad asked, "Messenger of Allah, am I in danger because of my resemblance to him, since he is my father?"He answered, "No. You are a believer and he was a disbeliever."Husayn said, "He was the first to lead the Arabs to worship idols."Husayn added, "I stepped back from it, and had I not done so, it would have engulfed you."
حدثنا زكريا أنبأنا عبيد الله وحسين بن محمد قالا حدثنا عبيد الله عن عبد الله بن محمد بن عقيل
بينما نحن مع رسول الله ﷺ في صفوفنا في الصلاة صلاة الظهر أو العصر فإذا رسول الله ﷺ يتناول شيئا ثم تأخر فتأخر الناس فلما قضى الصلاة قال له أبي بن كعب شيئا صنعته في الصلاة لم تكن تصنعه قال عرضت علي الجنة بما فيها من الزهرة والنضرة فتناولت منها قطفا من عنب لآتيكم به فحيل بيني وبينه ولو أتيتكم به لأكل منه من بين السماء والأرض لا ينقصونه شيئا ثم عرضت علي النار فلما وجدت سفعها تأخرت عنها وأكثر من رأيت فيها النساء اللاتي إن اؤتمن أفشين وإن يسألن بخلن وإن يسألن ألحفن قال حسين وإن أعطين لم يشكرن ورأيت فيها لحي بن عمرو يجر قصبه في النار وأشبه من رأيت به معبد بن أكثم الكعبي قال معبد يا رسول الله أيخشى علي من شبهه وهو والد فقال لا أنت مؤمن وهو كافر قال حسين وكان أول من حمل العرب على عبادة الأوثان قال حسين تأخرت عنها ولولا ذلك لغشيتكم
