The wife of Saad bin Rabi came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ with her two daughters from Saad and said, "Messenger of Allah, these are the two daughters of Saad bin Rabi. Their father was killed alongside you at Uhud as a martyr. Their uncle has taken their wealth and left them with nothing, and they will not be married unless they have wealth."He said, "Allah will decide in this matter."Then the verse of inheritance was revealed, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ sent for their uncle and said, "Give the two daughters of Saad two-thirds, give their mother one-eighth, and what remains is yours."
Its chain of transmission is hasan, because of Abdullah bin Muhammad bin Aqeel. The hadith was narrated by Abu Dawud, 2/109, in the book of inheritance shares, the chapter on what has been said regarding the inheritance of direct descendants, and Tirmidhi, 3/280, number 2092, in the chapter on what has been said regarding the inheritance of daughters, and Ibn Majah, 2/908, number 2720, similar to Abu Dawud, and Hakim, 4/334, who graded it sahih, and Dhahabi agreed with him.
