I asked Jabir about a man who intends to fast and is holding a vessel in his hand, about to drink from it, when he hears the call to prayer.Jabir replied, "We used to relate that the Prophet ﷺ said, 'Let him drink.'"

Its isnad is hasan, and the hadith is sahih. It was narrated by Abu Dawud 2/304, no. 2350, in the chapter on fasting, on the man who hears the call to prayer while the vessel is in his hand, and by Daraqutni 2/165. Hakim graded it sahih 1/203, and Dhahabi agreed with him.
