I fell seriously ill in Mecca, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ came to visit me. I said, "Messenger of Allah, I have left behind wealth, and I have no heir except a single daughter. Shall I bequeath two-thirds of my wealth and leave her one-third?"He said, "No."I asked, "Shall I bequeath half and leave her half?"He said, "No."I asked, "Shall I bequeath one-third and leave her two-thirds?"He said, "One-third, and one-third is plenty," repeating it three times.Then he placed his hand on my forehead and wiped my face, my chest, and my abdomen, saying, "O Allah, heal Saad and complete his migration for him."I have continued to imagine that I can feel the coolness of his hand upon my liver to this very moment.
حدثنا يحيى بن سعيد عن الجعد بن أوس قال حدثتني عائشة بنت سعد قالت
اشتكيت شكوى لي بمكة فدخل علي رسول الله ﷺ يعودني قال قلت يا رسول الله إني قد تركت مالا وليس لي إلا ابنة واحدة أفأوصي بثلثي مالي وأترك لها الثلث قال لا قال أفأوصي بالنصف وأترك لها النصف قال لا قال أفأوصي بالثلث وأترك لها الثلثين قال الثلث والثلث كثير ثلاث مرار قال فوضع يده على جبهته فمسح وجهي وصدري وبطني وقال اللهم اشف سعدا وأتم له هجرته فما زلت يخيل إلي بأني أجد برد يده على كبدي حتى الساعة
Its isnad is sahih. Jaad bin Aws is Jaad bin Abdul-Rahman bin Aws, attributed here to his grandfather, and he is also called Juayd, in the diminutive form, as noted previously at 1463. The hadith has already appeared with the same meaning at 1440.
