When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ conquered Hunayn, he sent out raiding parties who returned with camels and sheep, and he distributed them among the Quraysh. We, the Ansar, felt resentful about this. When word of our feelings reached him, he gathered us and addressed us, saying, "Are you not pleased that you have been given the Messenger of Allah ﷺ himself? By Allah, if the people were to take one path through a valley and you took another through a mountain pass, I would follow the path of the Ansar."They replied, "We are pleased, Messenger of Allah."

أن رسول الله ﷺ لما فتحت حنين بعث سرايا فأتوا بالإبل والشاء فقسمها في قريش قال فوجدنا أيها الأنصار عليه فبلغه ذلك فجمعنا فخطبنا فقال ألا ترضون أنكم أعطيتم رسول الله ﷺ فوالله لو سلكت الناس واديا وسلكتم شعبا لاتبعت شعبكم قالوا رضينا يا رسول الله
