I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say during the expedition of Tabuk, after we had returned, "There are people in Madinah who were with you every step of the way and through every valley you descended into. Illness kept them behind."

سمعت رسول الله ﷺ يقول في غزوة تبوك بعد أن رجعنا إن بالمدينة لأقواما ما سرتم مسيرا ولا هبطتم واديا إلا وهم معكم حبسهم المرض
