I saw Saad bin Abu Waqqas seize a man who was hunting in the sacred precinct of Madinah, the area which the Messenger of Allah ﷺ had declared sanctified, and he stripped him of his clothes. The man's masters came to Saad, so he said to them, "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ declared this area sanctified and said, 'Whoever you see hunting anything within it, his garments belong to you.' I will not return to you a provision which the Messenger of Allah ﷺ granted me, but if you wish, I will give you its price."Affan once said, "If you wish that I give you its price, I will give it to you."
Its isnad is sahih. Sulayman bin Abu Abdullah, Abu Hatim said, "He is not well known, so his hadith is to be considered as corroborating evidence." Ibn Hibban mentioned him among the trustworthy narrators, and Bukhari and Abu Hatim said, "He met the Muhajireen and the Ansar." Dhahabi said, "He is a follower whose reliability has been confirmed."The hadith was narrated by Abu Dawud, 2:168, from Abu Salama, from Jareer bin Hazim. See also 1443.
