Jibreel came to the Prophet ﷺ and said, "Get up and pray." So he prayed Zuhr when the sun had passed its zenith.Then Jibreel came to him for Asr and said, "Get up and pray." So he prayed Asr when the shadow of every object was equal to it, or he said, when its shadow was equal to it.Then he came to him for Maghrib and said, "Get up and pray." So he prayed when the sun had set.Then he came to him for Isha and said, "Get up and pray." So he prayed when the twilight had disappeared.Then he came to him for Fajr and said, "Get up and pray." So he prayed when the dawn flashed, or he said, when the dawn shone forth.Then he came to him the next day for Zuhr and said, "Get up and pray." So he prayed Zuhr when the shadow of every object was equal to it.Then he came to him for Asr and said, "Get up and pray." So he prayed Asr when the shadow of every object was twice its length.Then he came to him for Maghrib at a single time that did not change.Then he came for Isha when half the night had passed, or he said, a third of the night, and he prayed Isha.Then he came to him for Fajr when it had grown very light and said, "Get up and pray." So he prayed Fajr.Then he said, "Between these two times is the time for prayer."
حدثنا يحيى بن آدم حدثنا ابن المبارك عن حسين بن علي قال حدثني وهب بن كيسان
أن النبي ﷺ جاءه جبريل فقال قم فصله فصلى الظهر حين زالت الشمس ثم جاءه العصر فقال قم فصله فصلى العصر حين صار ظل كل شيء مثله أو قال صار ظله مثله ثم جاءه المغرب فقال قم فصله فصلى حين وجبت الشمس ثم جاءه العشاء فقال قم فصله فصلى حين غاب الشفق ثم جاءه الفجر فقال قم فصله فصلى حين برق الفجر أو قال حين سطع الفجر ثم جاءه من الغد للظهر فقال قم فصله فصلى الظهر حين صار ظل كل شيء مثله ثم جاءه للعصر فقال قم فصله فصلى العصر حين صار ظل كل شيء مثليه ثم جاءه للمغرب المغرب وقتا واحدا لم يزل عنه ثم جاء للعشاء العشاء حين ذهب نصف الليل أو قال ثلث الليل فصلى العشاء ثم جاءه للفجر حين أسفر جدا فقال قم فصله فصلى الفجر ثم قال ما بين هذين وقت
