The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Whoever revives dead land earns a reward for it, and whatever the creatures eat from it counts as charity on his behalf."

قال رسول الله ﷺ من أحيا أرضا ميتة فله فيها أجر وما أكلت العافية منها فهو له صدقة
Its isnad is sahih. Abdullah bin Aqeel Abu Aqeel was deemed reliable by the scholars, and he has narrations recorded by the four (Sunan compilers). Ubaydullah bin Abdul-Rahman bin Rafi Ansari is also deemed reliable, though Ibn Hajar said of him, "mastur," meaning that no one had criticized him. The hadith has a corroborating witness that is sahih as well. See 14298.
