A slave belonging to Hatib bin Abu Balta, a member of the Banu Asad, came complaining about his master and said, "Messenger of Allah, Hatib will surely enter the Fire."The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to him, "You have lied. He will not enter it, for he witnessed Badr and Hudaybiyyah."
حدثنا حجاج حدثنا ابن جريج أخبرني أبو الزبير أنه سمع
جاء عبد لحاطب بن أبي بلتعة أحد بني أسد يشتكي سيده فقال يا رسول الله ليدخلن حاطب النار فقال له رسول الله ﷺ كذبت لا يدخلها إنه قد شهد بدرا والحديبية
Its chain is sahih. The hadith was also recorded by Muslim, 4/1942, no. 2195, and the one before it is longer, in the Book of the Virtues of the Companions, chapter on the virtues of the people of Uhud, and by Tirmidhi, 5/697, no. 3864, where he said, hasan sahih, in the Book of Virtues, chapter 59, and by Ibn Abu Shayba, 12/155, no. 12398, and Abdul-Razzaq, 11/236, no. 20418. Hakim graded it sahih, 3/301, and Dhahabi agreed with him.
