The Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbade that any animal be killed by being tied up as a target.

نهى رسول الله ﷺ أن يقتل شيء من الدواب صبرا
Its isnad is sahih. Abdul-Rahman bin Abdullah bin Abu Ammar is the Makkan mentioned previously, nicknamed "the Devotee" for the abundance of his worship. The hadith was mentioned earlier at 14360.
