Abu Quhafa was brought before the Prophet ﷺ on the day of the conquest of Mecca, and his head and beard were as white as the thaghamah plant. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Take him to one of his women so she may dye it with something, but keep him away from black."
Its chain is hasan, because of Layth bin Abu Salim, and his hadith is never weakened as long as it is corroborated, for Muslim narrated from him. The hadith was narrated by Ibn Majah in the Book of Dress, in the chapter on dyeing with black, and by Tabarani in Al-Kabir 2/29, number 8325.
