The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "If the wealth of Bahrain comes, I will give you this much, and this much, and this much."When the wealth of Bahrain arrived after the death of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, Abu Bakr announced, "Whoever had a debt or a promise from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, let him come to me."So I came and said, "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'If the wealth of Bahrain comes, I will give you this much and this much,' three times."Abu Bakr said, "Then take it."So I took it. One of those who heard him said, I found it to be five hundred, so I took it. Then I came to him again, but he did not give me anything. Then I came to him a third time, but he did not give me anything. So I said, "Either you give me, or else you are being stingy with me."He said, "Did you say 'stingy with me'? What disease is worse than stinginess? You have not asked me even once without my having intended to give you."
حدثنا سفيان قال سمع ابن المنكدر
