The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Lock your doors, cover your vessels, put out your lamps, and tie shut your waterskins, for Satan does not open a locked door, nor uncover a covering, nor untie a fastening. And the little vermin can set a house ablaze upon its occupants," meaning the mouse.
Its isnad is sahih. Fitr is Ibn Khalifa, who was deemed trustworthy, and he has a narration in Bukhari. Bukhari related the hadith with many wordings. See 11/87 no. 6296 in Fath, in the chapter on seeking permission, closing doors at night. Also Muslim 3/1595 no. 2012 (duplicate), in the chapter on beverages, the command to cover vessels. Also Abu Dawud 3/328 no. 3731, in the chapter on foods, tying up vessels. Also Malik in Muwatta 929, and Ibn Khuzayma no. 131.
