When the Prophet ﷺ arrived in Medina, they slaughtered a camel or a cow. On one occasion Mura said, "I slaughtered a camel or a cow."
حدثنا وكيع حدثنا شعبة عن محارب بن دثار
أن النبي ﷺ لما قدم المدينة نحروا جزورا أو بقرة وقال مرة نحرت جزورا أو بقرة
Its isnad is sahih, and it is found in Abu Dawud 3747, in the book of foods, chapter on providing food upon returning from a journey.
