Muaz led his companions in prayer and recited Surah al-Baqarah in the Fajr prayer. Abdul-Rahman, meaning Ibn Mahdi, said it was the Maghrib prayer. The Prophet ﷺ said to him, "Are you putting people to trial? Are you putting people to trial?"
حدثنا وكيع عن سفيان عن محارب بن دثار
أن معاذا صلى بأصحابه فقرأ البقرة في الفجر قال عبد الرحمن يعني ابن مهدي المغرب فقال له النبي ﷺ أفتانا أفتانا
