We came along with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ one night until we reached the lote tree. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ stopped at the edge of the black ridge facing it, and gazed toward Nakhab, meaning a valley. He waited until all the people had gathered together, then said, "Truly the game of Wajj and its trees are forbidden, sacred to Allah."This was before his descent upon Taif and his siege of Thakeef.
حدثنا عبد الله بن الحارث من أهل مكة مخزومي حدثني محمد بن عبد الله بن إنسان قال وأثنى عليه خيرا عن أبيه عن عروة بن الزبير
أقبلنا مع رسول الله ﷺ من ليلة حتى إذا كنا عند السدرة وقف رسول الله ﷺ في طرف القرن الأسود حذوها فاستقبل نخبا ببصره يعني واديا وقف حتى اتفق الناس كلهم ثم قال إن صيد وج وعضاهه حرم محرم لله وذلك قبل نزوله الطائف وحصاره ثقيف
