Jabir bin Abdullah al-Ansari's camel had collapsed beneath him from exhaustion. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ passed by him and asked, "What is the matter with you, Jabir?"Jabir told him what had happened. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ dismounted and went over to the camel, then said, "Mount, Jabir."Jabir replied, "Messenger of Allah, it cannot stand."He said again, "Mount."So Jabir mounted the camel, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ struck the camel with his foot. The camel sprang up so suddenly that, had Jabir not clung to it, he would have fallen off.Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to Jabir, "Go on now, Jabir, to your family. Allah willing, you will find that they have prepared such and such for you," until he mentioned bedding. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ then said, "One bed for the man, one bed for his wife, a third for the guest, and a fourth for the devil."
حدثنا عبد الله بن يزيد حدثنا حيوة أخبرني أبو هانئ أنه سمع
إن جابر بن عبد الله الأنصاري برك به بعير قد أزحف به فمر عليه رسول الله ﷺ فقال له ما لك يا جابر فأخبره فنزل رسول الله ﷺ إلى البعير ثم قال اركب يا جابر فقال يا رسول الله إنه لا يقوم فقال له اركب فركب جابر البعير ثم ضرب رسول الله ﷺ البعير برجله فوثب البعير وثبة لولا أن جابرا تعلق بالبعير لسقط من فوقه ثم قال رسول الله ﷺ لجابر تقدم يا جابر الآن على أهلك إن شاء الله تعالى تجدهم قد يسروا لك كذا وكذا حتى ذكر الفرش فقال رسول الله ﷺ فراش للرجل وفراش لامرأته والثالث للضيف والرابع للشيطان
Its isnad is sahih. Abdullah bin Yazid is Muqri Makki, Abu Abdul-Rahman, and he is trustworthy and virtuous, and Haywa bin Shurayh Tujibi is likewise. Abu Hani is Humayd bin Hani, whom they deemed trustworthy, and his hadith is found in Muslim. Abu Abdul-Rahman Hubli is Abdullah bin Yazid Hubli, and he too is trustworthy.The hadith with this wording was narrated by Bayhaqi in Dalail 2/382, and in similar wording it was narrated by Muslim 3/1651 number 2084, Abu Dawud 4/70 number 4042, and Nasai 6/135 number 3385.
