Eighty men from Mecca came down upon the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and his companions from Mount Tanim at the time of the dawn prayer. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ captured them peacefully and pardoned them, and Allah revealed the verse, "And it is He who withheld their hands from you and your hands from them within Mecca after He caused you to overcome them" [Fath 48:24].
حدثنا عفان حدثنا حماد قال أخبرنا ثابت
أن ثمانين رجلا من أهل مكة هبطوا على رسول الله ﷺ وأصحابه من جبل التنعيم عند صلاة الفجر فأخذهم رسول الله ﷺ سلما فعفا عنهم ونزل القرآن {وهو الذي كف أيديهم عنكم وأيديكم عنهم ببطن مكة من بعد أن أظفركم عليهم}
