We were with Talha bin Ubaydullah while we were in a state of ihram when some game bird was gifted to him. Talha was asleep at the time. Some of us ate from it and some of us refrained out of caution and did not eat. When Talha woke up, he approved of those who had eaten it and said, "We ate this with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ."
Its isnad is sahih. Muhammad bin Munkadir bin Abdullah bin Hudayr, with the diminutive form, Taymi, was one of the great leading imams, and much of his hadith has already been mentioned.Abdul-Rahman bin Uthman bin Ubaydullah bin Uthman Taymi was a companion who embraced Islam on the day of Hudaybiya, though it is also said on the day of the Conquest. He was the nephew of Talha bin Ubaydullah. The hadith was narrated by Muslim (1:334) through Yahya bin Saeed from Ibn Jurayj, and Nasai also narrated it. See also 418, 830, and 1392.
