Anas bin Malik reported,

A man called out to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ on a Friday while he was delivering the sermon to the people in Madinah. He said, "Messenger of Allah, the rain has stopped, the land has become barren, and the people are suffering from drought. Pray to your Lord to send us rain."The Prophet ﷺ looked up at the sky, and we could not see much in the way of clouds. He prayed for rain, and the clouds began to gather one upon another. Then the rain came down so heavily that the gutters of Madinah flowed and its streets ran like rivers. The rain continued without ceasing until the following Friday.Then that same man, or another, stood up while the Prophet of Allah ﷺ was delivering the sermon and said, "Prophet of Allah, pray to Allah to hold it back from us." The Prophet of Allah ﷺ smiled, then said, "O Allah, around us and not upon us." He prayed to his Lord, and the clouds began to split away from Madinah to the right and to the left, raining on the surrounding areas while no rain fell within the city itself.

حدثنا حسين في تفسير شيبان عن قتادة قال

وحدثنا أنس بن مالك

أن رجلا نادى رسول الله ﷺ في يوم الجمعة وهو يخطب الناس بالمدينة فقال يا رسول الله قحط المطر وأمحلت الأرض وقحط الناس فاستسق لنا ربك فنظر النبي ﷺ إلى السماء وما نرى كثير سحاب فاستسقى فنشأ السحاب بعضه إلى بعض ثم مطروا حتى سالت مثاعب المدينة واطردت طرقها أنهارا فما زالت كذلك إلى يوم الجمعة المقبلة ما تقلع ثم قام ذلك الرجل أو غيره ونبي الله ﷺ يخطب فقال يا نبي الله ادع الله أن يحبسها عنا فضحك نبي الله ﷺ ثم قال اللهم حوالينا ولا علينا فدعا ربه فجعل السحاب يتصدع عن المدينة يمينا وشمالا يمطر ما حولها ولا يمطر فيها شيئا
