My brother Harun bin Abu Dawud said, I came to Anas bin Malik and said, "Abu Hamza, the distance is far, but we like to visit you when you are sick."He raised his head and said, I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, "Any man who visits a sick person is wading through mercy, and when he sits beside the sick person, mercy engulfs him."I asked, "Messenger of Allah, this is for the healthy one who visits the sick. What about the sick person himself?"He replied, "His sins are wiped away."
Its isnad is sahih, because of Abu Dawud Hafari. However, there is a problem with this chain. In the manuscripts available to us, it reads "Harun bin Abu Dawud, my father narrated to me," and these are the same sources that Haythami relied upon in what he had before him, for he said in 2/297 regarding him, "Abu Dawud, and he is very daif."But the problem lies in the statement of Ibn Hajar in Tajeel, where he affirms that Harun heard from Anas, transmitting this from Ibn Hibban in Thiqat in the biographical entry on Harun, and it is indeed found there. So according to what is in the manuscripts available to us, the isnad is daif, but according to the view of Ibn Hibban and Ibn Hajar, the hadith is considered hasan, because Ibn Hibban graded both Harun and his brother as reliable, and no one has mentioned any criticism of Harun. As for Hilal, they said that Ibn Madini and Ibn Main graded him reliable. In any case, the hadith is corroborated by the hadith of the Sahihayn coming at 22210, "the one who visits the sick wades in mercy."
