A man came and joined the row while out of breath, and he said, "Praise be to Allah, much good and blessed praise."When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ finished his prayer, he asked, "Which of you spoke those words?"The people remained silent.He asked again, "Which of you spoke them? He said nothing but good."The man replied, "I came in out of breath, and so I said them."The Prophet ﷺ said, "I saw twelve angels rushing to see which of them would carry those words up."Wazad reported from Humayd, from Anas, that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "When one of you comes to the prayer, let him walk at his usual pace. Let him pray whatever he catches with the imam, and make up what he has missed."Abu Abdul-Rahman said, al-irmam means silence.
حدثنا عفان حدثنا حماد أخبرنا قتادة وثابت وحميد
أن رجلا جاء فدخل الصف وقد حفزه النفس فقال الحمد لله حمدا كثيرا طيبا مباركا فيه فلما قضى رسول الله ﷺ صلاته قال أيكم المتكلم بالكلمات فأرم القوم فقال أيكم المتكلم بها فإنه لم يقل إلا خيرا فقال الرجل جئت وقد حفزني النفس فقلتها فقال لقد رأيت اثني عشر ملكا يبتدرونها أيهم يرفعها وزاد حميد عن أنس أن رسول الله ﷺ قال إذا جاء أحدكم فليمش على نحو ما كان يمشي فليصل ما أدرك وليقض ما سبقه قال أبو عبد الرحمن والإرمام السكوت
