The verse "Indeed, We have given you a clear conquest" [Fath 48:1] was revealed to the Prophet ﷺ until the end of the verse on his return from Hudaybiyyah, while his companions were overwhelmed with sorrow and grief. He said, "A verse has been revealed to me that is dearer to me than the entire world and everything in it."When the Prophet of Allah ﷺ recited it, a man from the people said, "Congratulations and blessings to you. Allah has made clear what He will do for you, but what will He do for us?"So Allah revealed the verse that follows it, "That He may admit the believing men and believing women to gardens beneath which rivers flow" [Fath 48:5], to the end of the verse.
