Anas bin Malik reported,

The Prophet of Allah ﷺ was once invited to a meal of barley bread and rancid fat, and he accepted. Anas said, I heard him say more than once, "By Him in whose hand is Muhammad's soul, there is not in the household of Muhammad a measure of grain or a measure of dates," though at that time he had nine wives. He pawned a coat of mail of his to a Jew in Medina in exchange for food, and he could not find anything with which to redeem it.
